My Reading Life

I am so fond of books that even going to a bookstore makes me feel great, even though I am just browsing and not buying books.Yeah,if I actually buy a book or more,I will feel over the moon. Having said that,I am a picky reader, and if a book doesn't grab my interest within first few chapters,I abandon it to read another one.

My favorites genres are YA, fantasy, sci-fi, mystery and contemporary

Coraline

Coraline - Neil Gaiman I like how this book begins, but it didn't hold my interest until the very end.I suppose it's a bit childish for me!I wonder what I would have thought about it as a kid.

The City of Ember

The City of Ember - Jeanne DuPrau Another book I've read in Dystopia genre.I find myself loving this genre. It was a fun and quick read for me.I like the main characters,And I was so eager to know what will happen next that I started the next book in the series right away.
Ember is an underground city whose inhabitants think their city is the only light in the dark world. They have electricity, but they're about to run out of it.Recently they've experienced some blackouts .What if these blackouts continued forever?

And Then There Were None

And Then There Were None - Agatha Christie Wow,it is awesome, wonderful.I don't know what to say.
To begin with, there were ten people. They were invited to a private island during a holiday. Every one of them was invited by a different host. They are complete strangers to each other. However, the host is nowhere to be found. Instead, two servants were hired to serve them. All of them have a dark secret back in their life. Then, one by one, they are murdered cold-heartedly. There is a nursery poem in every room which tells how the next victim will be killed. The identity of the murderer or murderess is unknown to them. Later, they come to the conclusion that the murderer or murderess is among them. In other words, all of them will be murdered, except the one who do the killing. Due to bad weather, they are unable to leave the island. They are trapped there, and have no alternative, but to meet their fate.
This book, also known as Ten Little Niggers, is another masterpiece by the queen of crime, Agatha Christie. There is no detective here to investigate the case .In other words, neither Poirot, nor Miss Marple, nor any other detective, can be found in it. This book is packed with suspense which keeps the readers at the edge of their seats and makes them anxious to know what would happen next. It’s a page tuner and unforgettable mystery.
I really couldn't put it down. Simply, I was hooked. I wanted to know who would be the next victim, and above all who was this mysterious murderer, why had the murderer gathered all these people to kill them? What kind of intention a person could have for such a behavior? I've just kept guessing, but I was wrong. And, that’s the point. It wouldn’t be mystery by Agatha Christie, if it could be guessed easily. The problem was as I suspected someone; he or she was killed. There is a nursery poem in the book that guests are killed based on it. Several times,I referred back to know how the next victim would be killed. The ending was absolutely wonderful. Agatha Christie caught me off guard as always! I think it's a must read for mystery fans.

The Mysterious Affair at Styles

The Mysterious Affair at Styles - Agatha Christie I listened to the audio version read by Hugh Fraser.By his reading he gave life to the characters.I really like the way he read the book.
After listening to the book,I watched the TV series.I think the book is much better.

The Happy Prince

The Happy Prince - Jane Ray, Oscar Wilde I remember watching its animation as a kid. It's a charming,heart-wrenching story;it is the story of love.

The Giver

The Giver - Lois Lowry It was a quick ad easy read for me.I really like it.Maybe because It was easy to read for me,But at the same time I enjoyed reading it as well.

It is about a boy called Jonas who lives in a community where everything is the same.He doesn't know anything about other life styles except the one he knows.Until Giver makes his eyes open to a new way of life.

This book makes me think that we have lots of things, even very simple things in our lives, but since we got used to them,we don't know how important they are, or simply we don't enjoy them. Things such as love, friendship, every kind of feeling, ability to decide for yourself, nature, different colors, even to be different is very wonderful sometimes!

The Blue Castle

The Blue Castle - L.M. Montgomery I'm just lost for words,I just say I absolutely loved it!

The Locked Room

The Locked Room - Paul Auster I shouldn't have trusted a magazine to buy a book.
Only the first chapter was interesting, but it's one of the worst books I've ever read.
I wasted my money!!
If it was a bit longer,I would be in a mad house now!

Just Patty

Just Patty - Jean Webster It was funny and humorous,I really like it.

Charlotte's Web

Charlotte's Web - E.B. White, Garth Williams, Rosemary Wells It was one of my favorite animations as a child. But I've not read the book.

Horton Hatches the Egg

Horton Hatches the Egg - Dr. Seuss It's been a long time since I wanted to read a book by Dr.Seuss.But I couldn't find any of his books, until yesterday I found five of his books.
I'm happy that at last I read one of his books.I really love his quotes.

"I said what I meant, and I meant what I said. An elephant's faithful one-hundred percent!"...

When Patty Went to College

When Patty Went to College - Jean Webster It was a fun read.I read it in one setting. It's been a long time since I've read a book in one setting.
Patty Wyatt, the protagonist of this story somehow reminds me of Judy Abbot, but not exactly like her.She is a funny character who makes me laugh out loud many times during the reading, she has the sense of humor.she doesn't like to obey rules and she breaks them whenever she likes.I love her method of studying for exams and her kindness toward others.
In my opinion, one of the reasons this book is not so popular as Daddy long legs is that there are no boys in it.
The only thing I didn't like about the book is that it's not a coherent book,I mean It consists of 15 short stories about Patty and her friends. As a result when I finish the book I wanted more and more.so I decided to read Just Patty which is about Patty's school days.

Pretties

Pretties - Scott Westerfeld The ending was great, again. And I'm eager for the third book, really. Some chapters were boring. But the last chapters made me feel better about this book.I was really confused until the last chapters. For example I thought how fool are these Specials???

Uglies

Uglies - Scott Westerfeld The ending was great.I didn't want to read the rest of series immediately. But now I find myself unable to read anything else but Pretties.

Ella Enchanted

Ella Enchanted - Gail Carson Levine Wow,I really enjoy it,especially the last chapters. It was very hard for me to put it down,so I stayed up late last night to finish it.
My favorite part is the part in which Ella and char write letters to each other.I almost cried with Ella when she wrote the last letter and I was as happy as Ella at the end of story.
In my opinion,Gail Carson Levine has really created a very charming story.

The Princess Bride

The Princess Bride - William Goldman When I picked it up,the first couple of pages didn't grab me.I didn't understand why the author brings himself to the story.
All the time I was saying to myself:"why are you reading this if you don't like it."The answer was this:"All the people say it is great and you have to read it."
Now I am very happy that I didn't give up and read it and must admit that it is great.
