My Reading Life

I am so fond of books that even going to a bookstore makes me feel great, even though I am just browsing and not buying books.Yeah,if I actually buy a book or more,I will feel over the moon. Having said that,I am a picky reader, and if a book doesn't grab my interest within first few chapters,I abandon it to read another one.

My favorites genres are YA, fantasy, sci-fi, mystery and contemporary

The Never War

The Never War - D.J. MacHale Phew, finally I made it.I finished reading it.
So far,it's my least favorite in the series. It took them a long time to figure out what was the turning point in the territory, first earth. And Saint Dane showed up really late. However, after that the story became more engaging.
I'm curious to know what will happen in the next territory, but not right away!

اسکار و خانم صورتی

اسکار و خانم صورتی - Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt, مهتاب صبوری It's just my personal opinion about this book, so please don't get offended if it's one of your faves!:)

It is about a ten year old boy who suffers from cancer and had an unsuccessful surgery,so he has only 12 days left to live. His favorite nurse, who is called pink mama by him, encourages him to write letters to God.

When I first read the summary of the book,I thought how touching and heartbreaking,it would be.However, after I read it,I had a completely different idea.Is it a good excuse for a ten year old boy to behave like an adult, just because he's gonna die? I didn't like the idea.Is being in a relationship with opposite sex (or acting like an adult while you have no idea what that is) the most important thing in our life and because of this, he should experience it before his death?? I hate everything about him and that nurse. I had started to like Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt,But this book totally changed my mind.

Hex Hall

Hex Hall - Rachel Hawkins The first thing about this book that caught my attention was the cover,,but then it was the witchy theme that propelled me into picking it up .So I didn'thave high expectations. After finishing it,I had mixed feelings. Overall,it's a good read.At least,it was not a disappointment, and was good enough that I couldn't put it down!
SPOILER ALERT!

Ninth Key

Ninth Key - Meg Cabot When I read the synopsis of the whole series in Wikipedia,it really appealed to me.I mean,a girl who is able to see, touch and talk to ghosts.
And then she finds out that she is able to travel in time.
However, now after finishing the second installment of the series,I lost my interest in reading the rest of the series.Only the idea of the book is interesting.

Anyway, I kept reading.but it didn't catch my interest until the end.
The main character,Suze, again was too sure of herself and got herself into troubles and didn't pay attention to warnings.I was wrong about her.I thought I prefer her to Bella. But I was wrong. It seems to me that she is interested in every guy around as long as they are hot!
The only reason I kept reading was that I liked to read something in English, and this book was really an easy read for me!!

Shadowland

Shadowland - Meg Cabot In the first place,I wanted to give it 2 stars,I mean it's ok,but I don't like it much. However,I think 2 stars are for books which don't make you curious enough to read the next, and after finishing this book,I want to know what'll happen next.so I gave it another extra star!
It reminded me of Twilight in some ways.Of course, there is no vampires in this book.I like Suze better than Bella. But,sometimes she did something which was doomed to failure from start.Maybe, she's so confident,I don't know!On this account, somehow she was on my nerve. But,she is not that obsessed by that ghost, and that's the thing I like about her compared with Bella.
The thing I don't like about this book:some references to hot abs!
I've decided to give the next book a go.I'm just curious about Jess's past.

SPOILER ALERT!

Re-Vamped!

Re-Vamped! - Sienna Mercer It was an eventful book in the series.
First of all,now everyone knows that they are long lost twin sisters.
Secondly,Olivia convinced the vampire officials that she is worthy of their trust.
Thirdly, eventually they understood who is their father:Ivy's dad.
I had guessed it,but I can't understand him at all,he is so strange. To solve this mystery,I should keep reading!

My Sister the Vampire #1: Switched

My Sister the Vampire #1: Switched - Sienna Mercer A nice story about two sisters who have just found each other at age of thirteen, and they happen to be identical twins. However, because their make-up and clothes are completely different, nobody notices their resemblance. Both were adopted when they were one.Surprisingly, one is a vampire, whereas the other is a vegetarian, and they swap their places!
I really like it,I didn't want to read it,because I'd wanted to finish The Never War first, then started a new book. But I started reading it, then I found out I read half of the book.
It's an easy and entertaining read.

The Lost City of Faar

The Lost City of Faar - D.J. MacHale In my opinion, this book was much better than the first one.The main reason,I suppose is that I like Cloral more than Denduron.Cloral is awesome and unbelievable.I wish Atlantis could be true, too!
The journal format really works for me and I'm as excited as Mark and Courtney to read them!
Still, there are lots of unanswered questions which I suppose I have to read till the end of series to get the answers!!! But I can't wait that long. Why this series is so long!!
I really enjoyed this book.I've already started the next book.Very excited to follow the adventures of Bobby Pendragon and his friends.

The Merchant of Death

The Merchant of Death - D.J. MacHale Bobby Pendragon is a 14 year old boy who has just found out he is a traveler and he has the responsibility for saving the world. One day, his uncle Press showed up and asked him for help.Together they traveled through the flume to another territory; Denduron.Bobby didn’t want to be engaged in this saving the world stuff. He is not brave or a warrior or a hero, above all he is just fourteen, so he wanted to run away and go home. But he decided to stay after …

At first when I read the plot summary,I immediately said to myself: oh no,again another boy who wants to save the world, too cliché, and I‘ve read stuff like that too much.I didn't want to read it.But when I started to read, it grabbed my attention right from the start and I grew to like it. I found Bobby’s journals so funny. Overall, I’m not sorry for giving this book a try and I've already started to read the next book.

Necropolis: City of the Dead (The Power of Five, #4)

Necropolis: City of the Dead (The Power of Five, #4) - Anthony Horowitz I really like this series. This was exactly what I want to read in this period of time.
There is to be another book in this series, but unfortunately I couldn't find any news anything about when it would be published which really let me down.I desperately want to read the next book :(
This series is easy to read, and at the same time, easy to relate with the main characters who I grew to like. It's really a pity that there is no news about the next book.
At first,I thought this series wouldn't appeal to me,but I found myself love it.
The whole series is full of adventure, suspense and unexpected events.I was on the edge my seat through the whole series.
All in all,it's worth a try.A quick, easy and fun read
I'm gonna read more of the Anthony Horowitz's works.

A Great and Terrible Beauty

A Great and Terrible Beauty - Libba Bray I like the opening chapters. But,the more I read, the less my interest became. The main character is somehow silly & shallow,I suppose.Sometimes it was so easy to predict what would happen next, but she was such an idiot!! I don't like her and even hate other character,Felicity.
However, this is nothing in comparison what really annoyed me.
It is unbearable and unacceptable for me when one of the characters said she wanted to be with several men! :ugh:

So,I decided not to read it any further!!
I hate it!!

En Llamas (Los Juegos del Hambre, #2)

En Llamas (Los Juegos del Hambre, #2) - Pilar Ramírez Tello, Suzanne Collins I like it.
But,I find it slow-paced,somehow boring sometimes especially in the beginning. As a result,I didn't want to continue reading, but I did it and it turned out to be far better than I expected. And toward the end it became what I really want to read.

Most of the time when I read a sequel I have this feeling.Especially in this case,Hunger Games is really awesome in comparison with its sequel.

The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins It’s the kind of book that I love, I mean the books that you can’t put them down and you stay up late to read them and time flies while you’re reading. And you can’t figure out what would happen next. A page turner.

It’s full of adventure, twist, suspense and a bit romance.

I love the two third of book. But toward the end,I lost my interest a bit, but I still liked it. That’s one of the reasons I gave it four stars.

I don’t like the violence, this killing stuff. And this fact through the whole book: to kill or to be killed.

My favorite part is when Katniss and Rue were together, although, it was so sad and I was about to cry. When Katniss sang that song .Then bread came from district 11.I really like that song.I like to have it here:

Deep in the meadow, under the willow
A bed of grass, a soft green pillow
Lay down your head, and close your sleepy eyes
And when again they open, the sun will rise.

Here it's safe, here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm
Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings
them true
Here is the place where I love you.

Deep in the meadow, hidden far away
A cloak of leaves, a moonbeam ray
Forget your woes and let your troubles lay
And when again it's morning, they'll wash away.

Here it's safe, here it's warm
Here the daisies guard you from every harm.

Here your dreams are sweet and tomorrow brings
them true
Here is the place where I love you."

Another part is when Tresh saved katniss from the girl from district one (I don’t remember her name). It was so terrifying.

All in all, it was well worth reading. I’m eager to reread it.Also,I’ll read the next book in the series.

The King's Stilts

The King's Stilts - Dr. Seuss In my opinion, although it is a children book,it has a message for the grown-ups.And the message is:"Having fun is not only for kids and the grown-ups need fun, too."
My favorite quote from this book is:" When he worked,he really worked.
but when he played,he really PLAYED."
SPOILER ALERT!

On The Night Of The Seventh Moon

On The Night Of The Seventh Moon - Victoria Holt I'm so interested in books that I grab any chance to talk about them. One of Victoria Holt's books was recommended to me by a distant relative of mine. She didn't even remember the name of author. But since she was so fond of that book,I decided to find the book.It was Bride of Pendorric which I will read for sure. So,as I said it was my first book by Victoria Holt. This book is mixture of romance and mystery which I love both.

The beginning was excellent, in the middle it became a bit boring and repetitive, but towards the end it became breathtaking, full of excitement and suspense.

This book is about a young woman, named Helena. One morning, she awakened in her bed to be told that her marriage had been a dream. All through the book.she wanted to find out what had had happened to her.

My favorite part is the part in which the Count was killed by the innkeeper.I was about to shout. It served him right. He deserved to be killed in a more cruel way, though!!!!

I like the mystery and I kept guessing, some of them were correct and some wrong.
To my surprise, their marriage was a real marriage and not a mock one.
But to my relief, fritz was Helena's son.

All in all.I enjoy reading this book.I will read more of Victoria Holt's books

The People of Sparks

The People of Sparks - Jeanne DuPrau Maybe, this book doesn't deserve 4 stars, but since I enjoyed it a lot, and whenever I picked it up,it was hard to put it down.I gave it 4 stars!
It isn't as good as the the first book, but as much entertaining.A good sequel to The City of Ember. It was great to follow the adventures of Lina and Doon.
